CRUISE Hunter has been recognised for its work in tapping into the $2.5billion shipping market.
In the last 12 months five naval vessels, two cruise ships and four super yachts have visited the Port of Newcastle, generating more than $7million into the Hunter economy and supporting 30 regional jobs.
Up to six more cruise ships are expected to make a port of call between now and 2005.
The Cruise Hunter Project, which is funded by the Department of State and Regional Development and Newcastle Port Corporation, won the Service Award at the recent 2003 Hunter Region Export Awards.
