Are Cruise Jobs Safe?

    Thursday December 4, 2008

Cruise jobs may not seem particularly safe currently, as threats from pirates have seemingly increased in recent years. The problem with thinking in this way is that the pirate problem is not a new one - pirates just often do not have the resources to do more than harass ships. Frequent attacks will often also lead to a stronger military presence that can make softer targets for pirates harder to attack. Pirates don't want that. Those who take on cruise jobs are nevertheless trained to handle such attacks, with many cruise jobs dedicated to security, and communications with nearby support.

Essentially, ocean travel is not as safe as air travel - it can be much more enjoyable, though, and is still quite safe for large ocean liners. Cruise jobs are not without risks, but part of the fun of them is the excitement of taking those small risks and coming through it all.
